Welcome to my blog! My name is Trista Lerit and I am a wedding photographer based in Orange County, California. Beautiful, Modern, and Edgy Wedding Photography is what I specialize in but every now and then, I love capturing little rascals a.k.a. kids!

This blog is where I'll post pictures from weddings, engagements, and little rascal sessions that I've shot recently. However, I won't limit my posts to photography related things only! This blog also doubles as my online diary where I'll discuss my love of food, share my favorite YouTube videos, post adorable pictures of my dogs (yes, I'm one of THOSE people), and talk about anything else I feel like!

I'd love to hear from all my blog visitors so please don't be shy, my blog doesn't bite ;-)

Thanks for stopping by and come again soon!

Wendi & Jason : Married and loving it :-) 07-02-2009

If you've been following me on Twitter/Facebook, you probably already know that I flew to D.C. for a shoot last week.  Not just any shoot...a totally awesome "I love my job" type shoot!  I first "met" Wendi when she emailed me a few months ago with the subject line reading "Your work is THE BOMB!"  Any person who writes me an email with that subject line is A-OK in my book!  Wendi explained that she was turning the big 3-0 this year and as a gift to herself, wanted an anniversary shoot for her and her hubby.  What a great gift, right??  She also told me a little bit about herself, her hubby, and most importantly...her lovely babies Buster & Daisy :-)  She wanted to know if I'd be interested in doing a shoot with their little family and of course..I said yes!  It totally worked out because I already had a trip planned for New York (to actually attend a wedding as a guest..can you believe it??!!) so I was able to coordinate the shoot to happen around the same time.

When Wendi and Jason picked me up from the airport, they had a sweet little gift for my Spunki (we finally decided on her name) and Mochi..rubber bones so they could chew on!  I thought that was soooo sweet of them...of course I loved them instantly and knew that the shoot was going to ROCK.  Wendi and Jason live in Old Town Alexandria and I must say...I COULD SHOOT THERE EVERYDAY FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!  It has so much charm and soooo many different "backdrops" to use..I seriously loved it and would love to go back so if you live anywhere near there and want to do a shoot with me, email me please :-)

Before I knew it, the shoot was over and I was on my way back to the airport :-(  I had such a great time with these two (in addition to Buster and Daisy) that I didn't want it to end!

Wendi and Jason...it was sooooo awesome getting the chance to capture you both in your current "hood".  If and when you move back to the West Coast, please let me know!!  You are such a beautiful and sweet couple...thanks so much for the lovely gifts for my babies and for the sweet card!

Now for my favorites....too many to choose from!!

We started at this fab boutique hotel..I wish I could remember the name of it?!  I was to busy being stealth so that they wouldn't kick us out ;-)

Love the turquoise walls!

and the orange wallpaper :-)

For some reason, I just love the simplicity of this shot..love the blue brick wall too!

How cute are these two??!!

Yummy back light :-)

Family photo :-)

Buster & Daisy...how cute..they're holding hands!!

Can you believe they are sitting in their backyard right here??  I would kill for these double doors!!

One of my favs!!

Cobblestone...*happy sigh*

Love the soft aqua backdrop here...I love this moment too..totally unprompted by me!

Love this!!

Cobblestone + Backlight + Leaves = Happy Trista :-)

totally cute :-)

They ended the day with a bike ride...

and a walk with their pups!

My heart is broken... 06-26-2009

Doug and I are actually on a mini vacation in NY right now for a wedding we're attending this weekend but I didn't want to wait to blog about this when I return home next week.

I flew to DC earlier today for a shoot that I was very excited about.  While shooting, I learned of Michael Jackson's untimely death and was in complete shock.  Michael Jackson was the love of my life when I was a little girl...I was 4 or 5 when I first discovered his music and I just couldn't get enough of it.  Everyone in my family knew that I loved him and would always tease me about it...but my mom understood..she bought me shirts with his face on them and I've got to say those shirts were my most prized possessions as a child.

As I grew up, my obsession with Michael faded but at my core, I was and always would be an MJ fan.  I'm sure MANY of you share the same feelings I do about Michael and have your own childhood memories of him and how his music was the soundtrack to your youth.  There is so much I want to say but I just don't have the words right now.

He will be missed by me and the millions of fans he had all over the world!!!  Reast In Peace Michael...you will always be in our hearts!

Below is one of my favorite Michael Jackson Performances..I hope it brings back some memories for all you MJ fans!

Melissa & Andrew : Married! 06-18-2009

I had such an amazing time at Melissa and Andrew's wedding for so many different reasons!!  To name a few, I was going to be working with Christina from Simply Modern Weddings for the first time..even though we've known each other for years!!  Christina referred Melissa and Andrew to me (thanks Christina) and when I first met Melissa, she left such a great impression on me and I knew that I wanted to shoot her wedding.  She was as sweet as can be and the conversation was just easy..like it should be!  When Christina told me all she had in store for their wedding, I was so excited!  Christina has exquisite taste as does Melissa so the two were a perfect pair in creating the wedding of Melissa's dreams.  The day was gorgeous as were all of beautiful details!

Melissa and Andrew...thanks so much for having me at your wedding!  You are the sweetest couple and I can't tell you how much fun I had at your wedding!  I wish you nothing but the BEST!  Have a great time in Maui!!

Now for some favorites!

There were too many details..too many to post them all!  But I'll give it a go!

When Christina first approached me about doing a photobooth at the wedding, I was excited..and NERVOUS!  After much practicing before the wedding to make sure everything went smoothly, I have to say the photobooth was a hit!!  It was great getting to interact with all the guests and seeing what they came up with!  (If you're a client who is interested in doing this for your wedding, email me and I'll give you all the details!)

LOVE this!!

lol..boys are funny :-)

hehehehe...that hairy chest on her is not real btw :-)  Is that a great prop or what??!!

Hand to heart...I did not tell these guys to do this.  I asked one of them if they wanted the hairy chest, he said no, but can I take my pants off?  LOL!!!  I thought he was kidding!  Then he proceeded to unbutton his pants and so did his friend!

Christina, her hubby, Eric, his wifey!

And of course, I had to take a picture in the booth..thanks Tracy for getting this shot of me!

Thanks to the following Vendors for being totally kick-ass-awesome!!

Wedding Coordinator: Christina Wright from Simply Modern Weddings.  Christina is seriously the BOMB!  What impressed me the most about her was how much she CARES about her clients and wanting everything to be perfect!!  It definitely shows in her work and I'm so glad I got to finally work with her!

Florist: Kristin Branceleone from The Treasured Petal.  Kristin is not only a very good friend of mine, she is also an AMAZING florist!  I've worked with Kristin so many times I've lost count!

DJ: Eric Mosqueda from SoCal-DJ.  This was my second time working with Eric and it was awesome!  He played great music and kept the dance floor full!

Lighting: Rainbow Sound and Lighting.  Lighting is key to transforming a room.  If you haven't thought of lighting for your event, you should!  This is the second time I've worked with them and their lighting is always beautiful!

Makeup: Vivian from All Made Up. One of the top makeup artists in So-Cal..beautiful work!!

Cupcakes: Vanilla Bake Shop..need I say more?? Yummy!!!
