Being a wedding photographer, I get to see a lot of things..some things I'm meant to see, some things I'm not. Jane's hotel room was filled with bridemaids getting ready, make-up/hair artists working their magic, and wedding "stuff". There wasn't a whole lot of room to get a shot of her dress so I worked with what I had..the small hallway outside the bathroom..sounds glamorous right? ;-) The only place I could get a good shot of her dress was if I was actually standing in the bathroom so I would keep tabs on the door to see when it would be open for me to step in for a quick shot of the dress. Finally, the door was open so I made a made dash for the door until I go to the door and realized someone was already in there..her back turned away with someone consoling her. It was Jane's mom who was crying with one of Jane's bridesmaids telling her "you can do this..you can do this!" It's moments like these where I realize the "big-ness" of a wedding day..I was there to capture the moments..but Jane's mom was there to give her daughter away. The daughter she watched grow up the past twenty-something years..I couldn't help but tear up just a little at the thought of this. I immediately thought of the day when I would potentially have a daughter who would one day get married and how I would have to give her away...I seriously don't know how parents do this. To all the parents out there who may be reading this, I "get" it now :-) I really do.. With the day starting so beautifully with that touching moment, I couldn't wait to see the day unfold. It was nothing short of exquisite..Jane & David decided to see each other prior to the ceremony so they could have ample time for pictures. It was adorable to see...Jane had made her way up to David and was literally standing next to him but David didn't look at her..all of a sudden he asked "Is it okay if I look now??" We all laughed and said "YES!!" He turned to her and immediately he was beaming and had the biggest smile on his face. I was at somewhat of a distance from them to give them their time together when I faintly heard David say "I'm SO happy"...how cute is that!!?? Yup, the day was just getting better :-) Their ceremony was soooo beautiful..they had several of their friends singing and I must say, everyone deserves record deals if they don't have one already..that's how good they were! Then the reception..THE RECEPTION! The flowers, colors, decor, lighting..everything magnificent. I thought several times that night...DAMN! Why didn't I use these colors for my wedding...the soft muted tones of pink, ivory, and lavender reminded me of an English garden..I LOVED it! It totally reminded me of something you would see in Martha Stewart Weddings :-) Jane & David..thank you so much for allowing me to share in this beautiful occasion with you. I'm so happy that you're HAPPY! Now for some favorites...there were too many details I loved :-) Adorable ring holder right?
